Disney Promises Zootopia 2 Will Surpass the Original Film

 

A Disney Animation producer has assured fans that Zootopia 2 will not only live up to the original but will likely exceed it in quality.

The first Zootopia movie, featuring the talents of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, graced screens on March 4, 2016. Since then, the Zootopia universe has remained relatively quiet, with the exception of a short series on Disney+ titled Zootopia+ that made its debut on November 9, 2022.

The long-awaited sequel was officially announced in February 2023, alongside other highly anticipated Disney sequels like Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5. However, details about Zootopia 2 remain shrouded in mystery.

An Upgraded Zootopia Experience

Brad Simonsen, who produced the original animated film in 2016, provided an exclusive update on Zootopia 2 while discussing his latest Disney Animated short, "Once Upon a Studio," with The Direct's Russ Milheim. He expressed the team's immense excitement for the sequel, stating that it will "take it to another level" compared to the first installment and be "just as good or better" than the original:

"We're all super excited about it. And it's a world that I was part of the first movie, and it was one of the most amazing experiences in my life, to be honest. And I know that this next one's going to take it to another level and be, as you know, as good or better than the first. So we're super excited about that project."

What Lies Ahead for Zootopia 2?

While Zootopia 2 has been a long time coming, Disney's decision to revisit this beloved universe has sparked curiosity about what the sequel will offer to audiences.

Fans can anticipate the return of Ginnifer Goodwin's Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman's Nick Wilde, providing a familiar and beloved dynamic. Beyond this, the creative team has a wide canvas to paint the next chapter of the Zootopia story.
